Job Description

Job Description

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – DATA CENTER DIVISION

\n

Critical / Stored Power Solutions | Remote (Southeast / South, US Preffered)

\n

\n

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

\n

Our client is a leading provider of stored power solutions with over a century of

\n

heritage, built by uniting a number of established power-solutions businesses into a

\n

single organization with a broad national footprint and deep technical expertise.

\n

Backed by private equity, the company has earmarked fresh investment to rapidly grow

\n

its newly formed Data Center Division, and is hiring a Business Development Manager to

\n

help drive that growth from the ground floor.

\n

\n

This is a rare chance to join a young, fast-moving division inside a well-established,

\n

financially backed company: the stability and reputation of a market leader, with the

\n

energy, autonomy, and upside of a start-up. The division runs a flat, founder-style

\n

culture with direct access to senior leadership, so visibility and influence come

\n

quickly.

\n

\n

WHAT THE COMPANY DOES

\n

Our client designs, installs, and services stored power systems that keep

\n

mission-critical operations running when the grid can't. The business is

\n

battery-manufacturer agnostic, selecting whichever chemistry and system best fits the

\n

customer's application rather than pushing a single product line.

\n

\n

Core offering:

\n

- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

\n

- UPS systems and power conditioning

\n

- VRLA, Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL), lithium-ion, and emerging battery chemistries

\n

- Battery racks, cabinets, and enclosures

\n

- Battery monitoring systems and test equipment

\n

\n

A key differentiator, and a strategic margin focus, is the service side of the

\n

battery backup lifecycle:

\n

- Site assessment, load analysis, and system design

\n

- Turnkey installation, commissioning, and project management

\n

- Preventive maintenance, testing, and battery monitoring

\n

- 24/7 emergency response

\n

- IEEE and NERC compliance documentation

\n

- Planned battery replacement and responsible recycling

\n

\n

With a nationwide service network, the company can typically reach customer sites within

\n

hours, a meaningful advantage over smaller or less-resourced competitors.

\n

\n

WHY THIS ROLE, WHY NOW?

\n

The Data Center Division targets Tier 2, 3, and 4 data centers, with a particular focus

\n

on colocation and smaller sites rather than hyperscalers. The timing is compelling: data

\n

center power demand is accelerating, grid interconnection has become a bottleneck in site

\n

selection, and onsite battery storage is shifting from a backup afterthought to a

\n

strategic, load-managing asset, with regulatory momentum pushing operators toward more

\n

robust onsite backup capacity.

\n

\n

There's a concrete, near-term pipeline behind this hire, including a significant live

\n

battery-replacement opportunity, a book of established named colocation accounts that

\n

aren't currently being fully managed, and strong cross-sell potential through existing

\n

utility relationships across the wider business.

\n

\n

THE ROLE

\n

This is a classic business development / account management role. Your primary mandate is

\n

managing and growing a portfolio of existing named accounts, with some prospecting into

\n

new logos. There are no assigned territories, the team works from named accounts with

\n

clear internal ownership, so there's no competing over whose deal is whose.

\n

\n

What you'll do:

\n

- Own and grow a portfolio of named data center accounts (colocation and Tier 2–4

\n

operators)

\n

- Step into pressing, active customer needs and capitalize on opportunity already in

\n

motion

\n

- Prospect and develop new accounts alongside account growth

\n

- Work cross-functionally with engineering and service teams to scope and deliver backup

\n

power and battery solutions

\n

- Partner closely with the VP of the Data Center Division as a key contributor to the

\n

team's build-out

\n

\n

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

\n

- Data center energy infrastructure experience combined with a strong sales track record

\n

- A working understanding of how the grid, backup generation, and batteries interact

\n

within data center operations

\n

- The seniority to contribute quickly, this is not an entry-level or junior role

\n

- Battery-specific experience is a plus but not required; we can teach battery specifics,

\n

not how to sell

\n

- Backgrounds from a manufacturer, distributor, or service provider in the backup power /

\n

data center energy space are all welcome

\n

- Prior experience with Tier 2–4 or colocation accounts is a bonus, not a hard

\n

requirement

\n

\n

COMPENSATION & LOCATION

\n

- Base salary: $125,000 – $140,000

\n

- Uncapped commission, OTE $200,000+

\n

- Remote, with key market activity concentrated in Texas and Virginia and expansion

\n

underway across the South and Southeast

\n

- Candidates based in these regions, or able to travel there efficiently, are best

\n

positioned (a West Coast base is less practical for this territory)

\n

\n

CAREER PROGRESSION

\n

This hire is positioned as a potential right-hand to the VP of the Data Center Division,

\n

with the opportunity to grow into a broader leadership role as the division scales.

\n

Joining now, as the team builds toward an ambitious multimillion-dollar quota, offers

\n

ground-floor positioning that's hard to find in a more established data center power

\n

organization.
